Orbital – Nothing Left (Les Rythmes Digitales Remix)

•February 4, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Orbital is an electronic duo from England who started in the endings of the 80s and are still standing after a 5 years hiatus. The name is taken from a motorway in England which was popular in rave culture. You may also know them because of Madonna’s “Bedtime Story” remix, which was later mixed by Stuart Price for the Re-Invention Tour. The top of their career was in the end of the 90s with ‘The Middle of Nowhere’, their fifth album and 2 top 10 singles “Satan” and “The Saint”.

“Nothing Left” was the 2nd single from ‘The Middle of Nowhere’, it’s a song actually divided in 2 parts, the track features Alison Goldfrapp on the vocals. The remixing treatment went to the likes of: Tsunami One, Way Out West and Stuart Price as Les Rythmes Digitales. The mix has that retro 80’s sound, keyboards and dance, improving the original one. It’s not one of his famous remixes, but keeps that style that we all love. Good Luck and have a great week

Scissor Sisters – Comfortably Numb (Paper Faces Remix)

•January 9, 2010 • 1 Comment

This is a response to Herr who requested more Paper Faces mixes. Explaining again Paper Faces is a collaboration of what was originally Zoot Woman(Stuart Price and Adam Blake), before their so aclammed ‘Living in a Magazine’. With a total of 4 songs mixed by this duet, Scissor Sisters is the band who has recieved more Paper Faces treatment, appart from Zoot Woman, and are now hitting the studio with Stuart Price for their so anticipated 3rd studio album.

The fist song I’ve heard from them was “Comfortably Numb”, which is a cover of Pink Floyd’s original version, and is so far the song that raised them internationally. The song was produced by Tiga who also remixed it, and other remixers include Fatboy Slim, Tommie Sunshine, ATOC (A Touch of Class) and Paper Faces. Stuart-Blake duet did a good job with that song, composed of two rythms that at the middle of the song combine, one slower and relaxing, then taking it to fast synth, by the way I love the intro of this song. I included the original remix and an edited version. Have a great weekend.

Felix da Housecat – Silver Screen Shower Scene (Thin White Duke Remix)

•January 6, 2010 • 5 Comments

Guys I’m terribly sorry for the lack of posts, it seems that my vacation aren’t that calmed as I expected. Yesterday I just arrived from Acapulco (beach in Mexico) and I had no way to share music because days ago someone stole my ipod. Anyways here  I am with more things to share. First of all Happy New Year to everyone!!! Kind of late. And well I supposed you want to be informed what comes from Stuart for this year: Scissor Sisters 3rd Studio album, Pet Shop Boys Live DVD, Kylie Minogue and Leighton Meester produced tracks. 2009 was a great year for Price in production Pet Shop Boys, Mika, Zoot Woman, Frankmusik, Killers. And he did some amazing mixes It’s Not My Problem, Undisclosed Desires, Just Say Yes, This Must Be It, Paparazzi. Hope he does even better this year, I’d love to hear mor remixes from the Duke this new decade.

Let me say this is one of those amazing remixes someone can’t avoid from Stuart’s oldies, missed in the compilation I made few weeke ago for the duration, it was requested by Jose. I think I have told almost everything about Felix da Housecat, and although I’m not liking the new stuff, he still has some memorable tracks. Other special thing is that he has worked several times with Stuart. The last year he just recluted Stuart again for mixing “We All Wanna Be Prince”. First time Stuart made a remix for Felix was back in 2002 for “Silver Screen Shower Scene”, which was written by Tommie Sunshine and is one of Housecat’s memorable songs.

The song is only a strophe, easy catching making comparisons from pleasures and fame. The original version keeps a regular rhythm and there are no alteration till the end of the song, which in fact is just a woman singing like she was in the shower. The Thin White Duke remix of the song is far superior, a slow intro with fades on it, which suddenly turns into a fast version with synthesizers all over it. There are features of several sounds which incorporate to the original structure, at the end all of them began to disappear, till it gets to the original intro fading sound. You’ll love this one.

Happy Birthday 2me. Special Gift for You

•December 20, 2009 • 9 Comments

Well the original plan was to post this yesterday… but I had almost no time and Mediafire was weird, besides I was celebrating my birthday. Actually the celebration began on Wednesday, and I’m planning to continue today!!! In my vacation time I worked in a Price compilation made of 2 sides (Production and Remixes). The selection of songs is based on the most popular tracks and my personal favorites from Stuart’s work. Don’t think as a christmas gift, is more like a celebration for Stuart rocking our headphones the whole decade and giving us the best dance tracks we’ve ever heard, is also an appreciation for all the followers and friends, that make this blog continue. So thanks and hope you enjoy the b.day gift.

Frankmusik – 3 Little Words & Done Done (Acoustic)

•December 7, 2009 • 1 Comment

Frankmusik was my favorite artist from 2009, his debut album ‘Complete Me’ was made in such a form that you can dance, but it still breaks my heart. Accompanied by the geniallity of Stuart Price he made a beautiful production which you don’t get bored of, even the demos and bonus tracks are great. Along the album he also released a remixed version by him entitled ‘Re-Complete Me’ and now he launched ‘Completely Me’ which is an acostic version of the album with more sensibility, is like feeling the album in a more personal way. I totally love it.

In his ‘Re-Complete Me’ he began with an acoustic version of his debut single “3 Little Words”, this new version is the one that gave inspiration to this new side of the CD. You can hear more clearly to Frank’s voice and you can feel more the lyrics. The piano is elemental for all the new interpretations of the song, the only which didn’t made it was  “When You’re Around”, but that’s quite well, I will never imagine that song acoustic with a piano. I also featured “Done Done” which also made it as one of the highlights of ‘Completely Me’. Hope you like it guys. Have a great week.

Madonna – Hollywood (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Remix)

•December 6, 2009 • 2 Comments

First of all thanks to Ryan for getting me the 320 Kbps from the edit, you rock! Madonna did a great job with Mirwais in 2000’s ‘Music’, then in 2003 she repeats him as producer for ‘American Life’, maybe one of the best albums from her, but was almost ignored and is so far her worst selling studio album. Second single “Hollywood” did terrible in US charts, (since “American Life” american radio stations seem to hate her), the single didn’t even charted in Billboard’s hot 100, however it did quite well in Dance charts, Paul Oakenfold, Victor Calderone, The Micronauts, Deepsky and Stuart Price remixed the single for a perfect Club song.

However, “Hollywood” is quite famous for the VMA’s presentation, where she kissed Britney and Christina. This wedding style performance took the Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke version from the song, mixed with “Like a Virgin” and a rap from Missy Elliot, this medley was included in her EP ‘Remixed and Revisited’. Then she used the remix again in her Re-Invention Tour, with a dub sound and a heavier instrumentation with guitars, arabian sounds and tapping, this one was featured in her Live CD ‘I’m Going to Tell You a Secret’. So by far is one of Madonna’s most famous and most used mixes, the original one is filled of synthesizers and an alarm sound that gives more personallity to the song. Hope all of you like these one, its one of Stuart’s best remixes.

3rd Poll Results

•December 6, 2009 • Leave a Comment

People, I just finished school on Friday! Yeah, that means that finally I’m free to post on my blogs, and my life will continue it’s usual order. First of all I want to mention (something that almost anyone already knows), that Stuart is working with Kylie Minogue for her next cd, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters is writing songs for her also.  Well and then, here are the results of the last poll ‘If there was a chance that Stuart remixed again for any of this artists, which will be the best choice?’ . Apparently people went more for Lady Gaga, which is in fact the fashion artist of the year, actually the Stuart Price Remix for Paparazzi is one of the most famous ones and is even better than the original by far, it will be interesting if Stuart made a Thin White Duke treatment for ‘The Fame Monster’ tracks. Other ones that got far were Britney, Fischerspooner and Goldfrapp. The ones that simply got 1 vote were The Music and Cassius, sad because the remix he made for Bleed From Within is actually one of my favorites from him. But I don’t judge, these are the likes of my readers.

RESULTS

  1. Lady Gaga – 20%
  2. Britney Spears – 15%
  3. Goldfrapp – 13%
  4. Fischerspooner – 13%
  5. Justice – 12%
  6. Sneaky Sound System – 8%
  7. Kasabian – 5%
  8. Beck – 4%
  9. Friendly Fires – 4%
  10. Armand Van Helden – 3%
  11. Cassius – 1%
  12. The Music – 1%

Pet Shop Boys – Viva la Vida/Domino Dancing [Link Fixed]

•November 13, 2009 • 14 Comments

One of the songs I remember the most from the Pet Shop Boys concert was “Viva la Vida”. Yeah you know this song from Coldplay (nothing impressive), which Stuart remixed for them during the past year as the Thin White Duke. I got this from another Stuart fan, thanks a lot. So Pet Shop Boys are gonna release a new EP called Christmas for December. With 5 tracks including a cover of Madness and a house mix from the same song, a re-edit of 2 previous songs and a mash-up from Viva la Vida/Domino Dancing. The last one featuring the production from the one and only Stuart Price.

Christmas

This version from Viva La Vida is far superior from the original from Coldplay, obviously thanks to the greatnes of Stuart. This version features arrangements taken in basis from Domino Dancing (great song), also there are some extracts from the lyrics of that song, it’s mixed with a disco style, the drums are based in the remix he made for Coldplay same song,  giving the song a perfect intro and ending. Beautiful cover. Hope you guys like it.

By the way if you want the whole Christmas EP, make a comment and I’ll send you the 5 new songs. And also I have a request if anyone has it, I will be eternally thankful, I’m looking for a 320Kbps of the Hollywood (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Edit), the edit please, if someone has it please share it. Well that was all guys. Have a fun day.

Muse – Undisclosed Desires (Thin White Duke Remix) [Edit Added]

•November 7, 2009 • 4 Comments

Finally the wait is over. A contact of me, whose also a great fan of Stuart,  got me this one it sounds great let me say. As I told you Muse have a brand new single “Undisclosed Desires” which is expected to be release on November 16th. The song will be accompanied by 2 version of the remix from Stuart (Original and Edit) and another by ”The Big Pink’. The song already has a video and is making the way to my favorite tunes from this group. If you’re into the alternative-rock movement I recommend you this excellent group, which is already in my top of favorite bands.

Undisclosed Desires - Single

The original version might seem a bit slow and boring to certain people, that’s why we got this exciting new remix. In my interpretation the lyrics are about giving a new relationship where all the past doesn’t matter, even if you know that person was a whore or something like that before. It begins with a bubbling percussion which later introduces to the keyboards, interesting intro let me say. I love how he uses the voice to create a new effect all over the song which also gives the end to the song, also the vocals sound clearer than in the original version. Perfect remix, I couldn’t expect more from Stuart. Hope you guys love this one as much as I did. Good luck and have a great week.

Don’t forget to check the post from Snow Patrol – Just Say Yes (Thin White Duke Remix). I added the Edit from the remix. And in other news, Pet Shop Boys are releasing a Chistmas EP and Stuart is included as producer of the medley “Viva La Vida/Domino Dancing”, so let’s wait for it to be released.

The Killers – Spaceman (Live from the Royal Albert Hall)

•November 7, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Sorry for not posting anything in two weeks, I was really busy. But here I come with something new for all of you! I told you before that Stuart  produced the Live CD that comes as bonus in the new Concert DVD from the Killers. ‘Live from the Royal Albert Hall’ is expected to be released in the 9 and 10 of November, it comes with the whole concert live plus some live recordings and the CD I already mentioned which comes with an extract of no more than 17 songs from the whole list. It’s quite worth hearing it let me say.

Losing Touch

You all know this song “Spaceman” is one of my favorites from their last album, I think Stuart did a great job in this song. The live version sounds great and the guitars sound more clearly hear, that’s why I chose this one specifically. It has some more instrumentation on it and Brandon’s voice sounds quite good. Hope you guys like this one, and if you do don’t stop looking for the DVD which is just 3 or 4 days far from today.
